however, there's a new online boutique in town
it's cala qisha. ever heard of it?
quite a cute and unique name tho' and it's only just been around like 3 days!
truly a newbie but most of the items are selling like hotcakes people

once you enter their site, you will notice that the cute model (she's farah mislina, from the scarflet's bunch) wore her shawl ala turban
well, just like this
cute je kan?

so if any of you out there would like to try this style, farah already upload the tutorial on youtube
you can view from here

and i'm going to try this out tonight, right after my korean class^^

kim joo won's chant

dear all,
please bear with me
i still can't get over the post-secret-garden-syndrom
kyaa~

so, who is this kim joo won?
he's that guy from secret garden^^

and what about his chant?
he will chants when he starts to lose his grips (i.e can't stop thinking about gil ra im-the girl)

김수한무 거북이와 두루미 삼천갑자 동방삭 치치카포 사리사리센타 워리워리 새프리카
무두셀라 구름이 허리케인 담벼락 서생원에 고양이 바둑이는 돌돌이

Kimsuhanmoo keobugiwa durumi samcheongabja Dong Bang Sak Chichigapo Sarisarisaenta Woriwori Saepeurika Moodoosella gureumi heorikaein dambyeorak seosaengwonae goyangyi badookineun Doldolri

this chant actually does comes with an ancient story. interesting right?
i got this from a source while looking for the soundtracks
(this is just a habit of me downloading the soundtracks from all the korean dramas i've watched)
but it was a sad-funny ending tho'

A long, long time ago, a man who’s part of generations of only sons, consulted a name-specialist to give his only son a name symbolic of a long life. But no matter how the name-specialist suggested, the man insisted, “longer… make it longer”. It became a name that took a long time to pronounce  in anybody’s life.

His name was Kim~~suhanmoo keobugiwa durumi samcheongabja Dong Bang Sak Chichigapo Sarisarisaenta Woriwori Saepeurika Moodoosella gureumi heorikaein dambyeorak seosaengwonae goyangyi badookineun Doldolri.

One day, Kim~~suhanmoo keobugiwa durumi samcheongabja Dong Bang Sak Chichigapo Sarisarisaenta Woriwori Saepeurika Moodoosella gureumi heorikaein dambyeorak seosaengwonae goyangyi badookineun Doldolri fell into the river.

A passer-by cried for help.

“Heelp!! Kim~~suhanmoo keobugiwa durumi samcheongabja Dong Bang Sak Chichigapo Sarisarisaenta Woriwori Saepeurika Moodoosella gureumi heorikaein dambyeorak seosaengwonae goyangyi badookineun Doldolri fell into the river!”

However, during the time he was crying for help, Kim~~suhanmoo keobugiwa durumi samcheongabja Dong Bang Sak Chichigapo Sarisarisaenta Woriwori Saepeurika Moodoosella gureumi heorikaein dambyeorak seosaengwonae goyangyi badookineun Doldolri drowned.

Thanks to Naver Jishik’s 76shkim님 and 액터정님, here are the explanations to those fateful words:

김수한무
Kim Soo-han-moo : it’s Hanja literally means  surname ‘Kim’, ‘Age-is-Infinite’.

거북이와 두루미
Keo-bu-gi-wa du-ru-mi: the tortoise and the crane (bird, not machine), 2 of the traditional 10 symbols of longevity.

삼천갑자 동방삭
Sam-cheon-gab-ja Dong Bang Sak: long time ago, there lived a guy called Dong Bang Sak in China. He lived for sam-cheon-gab-ja = 3000 x 60 = 180000 years.

치치카포
Chi-chi-ga-po: name of somebody who lived a long life somewhere in Africa *lol*

사리사리센타, 워리워리,새프리카
Sarisarisaenta, Woriwori, Saepeurika: names of legendary people who lived a long life *rofl*

무두셀라
Moo-doo-sael-la : konglish for Methuselah, who lived for 969 years, according to the Bible’s Genesis 5:27

구름이
gu-reum-yi: ‘clouds’, ‘cos they symbolise a never-ending existence; in a way, lives longer than Methuselah ^^; thus it’s better to be a cloud than Methuselah

허리케인
heo-ri-kae-in: konglish for ‘hurricane’, shows the meaninglessness of clouds’ existence if they can be blown away by hurricanes, thus it’s better to be a hurricane than a cloud.

담벼락
dam-byo-rak: ‘wall’, showing the meaninglessness of a hurricane if you stay intact despite being blown, thus it’s better to be a wall than a hurricane.

서생원에
seo-saeng-won-ae: ‘mouse’. Drills holes in wall, causing weakened wall to collapse in a hurricane, thus… it’s better to be a mouse than a wall.

고양이
go-yang-yi: ‘cat’

바둑이는
ba-duk-yi-neun: ‘dog’

돌돌이
Doldolri: doggie’s name..

enquiry | inquiry

somehow this post is only a quick note or a little reminder for me
well, just because i used to mix up the difference between both of them all the time
geleng kepala~

+ Enquiry means asking a question
+ Inquiry is a formal investigation
+ The prefix ‘en’ comes from French, and ‘in’ from Latin
+ Enquiry is a request for truth, knowledge or information
+ Inquiry is an investigation into something
+ Enquiry is preferred in British English
+ the Americans are more comfortable with  Inquiry
+ In spite of their being a clear distinction in the meanings of the two terms, people often use them interchangeably

secret garden

i've been regretting myself for not watching this earlier
yes, since everyone's have pretty much enjoyed it way back before mary stayed out all night

preparing for my impromptu speech...in korean

i've been taking up korean lessons for nearly two months now
it's a two hour class every tuesday, and i secretly wish that it'll be longer
not just because the lesson itself, but it's the only time that my husband will watch over our girl all by himself...hoho, for that full two hours!

think about
+ playing and catching up with her (she's already walk fast and love to pick up stuffs!)
+ to mind her moods..she's clingy to her mom, so the first few minutes when i get off from the car to attend the class will be just like a thunder hit the planet!
+ to sooth her high pitch cries
+ and sometimes to tends her poops (yeay, daddy got his hands dirty!)

but, that's not what i really want to talk about here
a couple of weeks back, our son-saeng nim (techer) told us that in order for us to pass this class we have to go through two tests, a final exam AND a speech!
everyone was like in nganga mode (haaaaa?!)
we've already done our 1st test last tuesday...i don't want to brag, but it was kind of easy for me
seriously, quite gigih-la jugak aku study, so hopefully i'll get full marks
winks~

and yes, i've already prepared my speech
a short and simple one it is!
the class is barely two months, so don't expect much
there you go~

Inspired by Muhammad

Have a blog? Sick of people getting false information which lead to negative perceptions about Islam? Then let’s share some simple facts. (Yes, even if you do not wear the hijab. Yes, even if you are a smoker. Yes, even if you listen to heavy metal music. No doubt we should improve ourselves for the better yet still, nobody can take the right of spreading positive vibes from us. Well… at least that’s what I believe. And I’m no religion-genius.)

The Inspired by Muhammad campaign is designed to improve the public understanding of Islam and Muslims. It showcases Britons demonstrating how Muhammad inspires them to contribute to society, with a focus on women’s rights, social justice and the environment. The campaign coincides with a national poll conducted by YouGov which shows that 69% of people believe that Islam encourages the oppression of women, that just 6% of people associate Islam with justice and that a mere 6% believe that Islam promotes active measures to protect the environment. Overall, nearly half of all people in the UK believe that Islam does not have a positive impact on British society.

I’m aware that not all of you readers are Britons but that’s not the question. Islam is in every country and your blog can be viewed by everyone in the world. The question is: Why not? :)

The Exploring Islam Foundation recently commissioned YouGov to survey public perceptions of Islam, Muslims and the Prophet Muhammad. Here are the results.
Knowledge of Islam
  • 60% say they don’t know very much about Islam
  • 17% say they know nothing at all
  • 33% would like to know more about Islam
Sources of information on Islam
  • 57% obtain most of their information about Islam from the TV news
  • 41% obtain their information about Islam from newspapers
  • Just 3% get most of their information on Islam from Muslim organisations
  • 31% feel that information about Islam is not very accessible
  • 5% say that information is not accessible at all
Perception of Islam
  • 58% associate Islam with extremism
  • 50% associate Islam with terrorism
  • Just 13% associate Islam with peace
  • 6% associate Islam with justice
  • Only 16% think that Islam promotes fairness and equality
  • Only 6% believe that Islam promotes active measures to protect the environment
  • 41% disagree or strongly disagree that Muslims have a positive impact on British society
  • 69% believe that Islam encourages the repression of women
The Truths

Social justice was a term coined in the 1840s and is a guiding principle for all societies today just as it was fourteen centuries ago in the Arabian desert.

The right to vote, to inheritance, education, a role in politics and civic society were controversial and groundbreaking ideas that Muhammad promoted for women in a seventh century society that regarded them as mere possessions.

The environment has been the hot topic of the last few decades, yet green concerns were nothing new in seventh century Arabia, particularly not to a man dubbed an environmentalist of his time.

“Even a smile is charity” said Muhammad who encouraged helping others no matter how small or great the deed.

“Seek knowledge – even if it takes you to China” was the instruction of Muhammad to his companions in seventh century Arabia.

“For every disease there is a cure” forms the ethos driving medical researchers today to treat debilitating conditions like cancer.

While Britain’s oldest animal shelter system was formed in nineteenth century Britain, Islamic civilisation was committed to animal welfare centuries earlier owing to the instructions of Prophet Muhammad.

The 1948 UN charter on human rights proclaims “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, words that echo Muhammad’s practices over fourteen centuries ago.

The core Islamic principle is that of equality between all of humankind.
What Can You Do?
  • You can link www.inspiredbymuhammad.com in your blog and share it in your Facebook with that thousands friends of yours! ;)
  • You can spread around the pictures and the data above.
  • You can go here, save some banners in your computer, display them in your blog or better, print them out as posters for your class, school, college, uni, workplace – any location where heaps of people could have a look at it!
  • You can read the content of the website (they’re no brainer, really; nothing too encyclopedic so don’t worry!) and give the right information to your Non-Muslim friends. Or your unconvinced Muslim friends, for that matter.
  • You can (you should!) always be nice and kind to everyone regardless of their religions and beliefs because that’s what Prophet Muhammad would do. And seriously, nobody would make the effort to respect and understand our religion better if we ourselves are behaving like shit. Sorry. I meant, poo.
Remember that there are so many false information out there and here on the internet, so beware of what you read, hear and watch. Remember that Holy Quran is our only true, crystal-clear guidance, so be careful of inaccurate versions. Remember that if there’s anything wrong (I think terrorism and misuse of polygamy would be some of the most common examples), it’s the followers (who misunderstand things or were misinformed), not our religion Islam and definitely not our Prophet Muhammad.
As salam and have a splendiferous day!
